GT SCORE & GT STARS is our composite grading system for each ship based on spaciousness and service. The GT score ranges from 1 to 1,000 with a higher score implying a more comfortable, personalized onboard experience. GT stars are based on the score: below 200 points = *; 200 to 299 points = **; 300 to 449 points = ***; 450 to 649 points = ****; 650 points & above = *****.

DEFINITIONS: Year built is when the ship entered service. | Gross tons is a measure of enclosed revenue space, where 1 gross ton equals 100 cubic feet (2.83 cu. m). | Beam is maximum width. | Draft is depth below waterline. | Cruising speed is normal operating speed in knots. | Cabins are usually for two passengers, but with some exceptions for singles, triples, quads, etc. | Passengers is normal capacity based on two passengers per cabin. | Crew is the normal total of all onboard officers, staff and crew. | Space to passenger ratio is gross tons divided by double occupancy capacity. Generally, under 30 is high density, 30 to 39 is moderate, 40 to 49 is very generous and 50 or more is extremely spacious. | Passenger to crew ratio is the number of passengers per crew member, based on double occupancy. Lower numbers imply better service. The scores are all relative, but generally below 2 is excellent and above 3 may be lacking. Most of the standard mass market ships range between 2 and 3. | Type is the market sector and lifestyle of the cruise. | Former Names, if any, are numbered increasing from earliest to latest.
