Ruahine was a passenger cargo liner in continuous service between New Zealand and England via Tahiti and the Panama Canal, with eastbound calls at Kingston, Port Everglades and Bermuda and westbound at Curacao. The company boasted good food, sunshine and inexpensive drinks, and such they delivered albeit in very simple no-frill accommodations. It was sold to the Tung companies in 1968 as Oriental Rio for around-the-world service.
