Rangitane was a passenger cargo liner in continuous service between New Zealand and England via Tahiti and the Panama Canal, with eastbound calls at Kingston, Port Everglades and Bermuda and westbound at Curacao. The one-way voyage took just over a month and attracted immigrants from the UK to New Zealand, and tourists eastbound. Mainly 4, 6 and 8-berth cabins. It was sold to the Tung companies in 1968 as Oriental Esmeralda for around-the-world service.
