Built strictly as a transatlantic liner, and as a stand-in for the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, out of necessity it was used for cruising after the advent of jet aircraft. Finally it was painted shades of green in 1962 and thereafter used mainly for cruising. It was scrapped in 1965.
